Hands on Training in High-Performance Thin-Layer Chromatography (HPTLC)
High-Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) is an advanced form of thin-layer chromatography that enables rapid, precise, and cost-effective separation of chemical constituents. It employs high-quality precoated plates, automated sample application, and densitometric scanning for accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis. HPTLC is widely used in pharmaceuticals for drug standardisation and impurity profiling, in herbal medicine for fingerprinting and quality control, and in food analysis for detecting additives and contaminants. It also finds applications in environmental monitoring and forensic science. Its advantages include minimal sample preparation, parallel analysis of multiple samples, and high reproducibility, making it a versatile analytical technique.
The workshop is intended to provide the basics of HPTLC to the participants, along with instrumentation and practical experience in some of the applications. The training The programme covers topics including fundamentals of HPTLC, Instrumentation, and Components, Sample Preparation, separation and Handling Data Acquisition and interpretation.
The expected target group for this programme is Post-graduate students, PhD students scholars and other researchers from Research Institutions, Colleges and Universities
